Beautiful! Funny but I can't tell what kind of poppy this is, colour looks like somniferum but overall appearance looks more like nudicaule (Icelandic poppy). Could be rhoeas (Corn poppy) too but colour is also not usual. You have stumped me - and I'm a poppy expert.

Don't know the official names of poppies..but this one is in California and grows alongside the roads.

hmmm ... roadsides probably means Papaver rhoeas the Corn Poppy. :D

Beautiful ...our veterans serve knowing that our country does not do them justice...and yet they serve anyway...My father was a Korean War Vet.
